Task 12: Anchoring

You will be asked to demonstrate that you can:

1. Release and recover an anchor using engine power to manoeuvre the vessel
2. Determine the most favourable approach by assessing the conditions of wind, wave and current .
3. Determine the length of anchor line to suit prevailing conditions.
4. Estimate the swinging circle of vessel with regard to prevailing and anticipated conditions while considering -
   water depth, wind, wave and current conditions.
5. Test to see if the anchor holds by any acceptable method by-
   noting the vessel’s final position is advise of how this can be regularly checked.
