You will be asked to demonstrate that you can, when hearing the words “Man Overboard”
You will be asked to conduct a safety briefing with the crew;
- Turn the vessel towards the ‘man overboard’.
- Simulate the throwing of a floatation aid.
- Ensure that a visual watch is maintained on the ‘man overboard’.
- Complete a turn so as to retrieve person from down wind/current.
- Approach at an appropriate speed.
- Stop the vessel down wind/current of ‘man overboard’.
- Stop the engine before retrieving ‘man overboard’.
- Retrieve the ‘man overboard’.
