2018 MTAQ CONFERENCE – WAVES OF CHANGE – TANGALOOMA, MORETON ISLAND

The opportunities being presented at the 2018 MTAQ Conference at the Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort on Moreton Island have been designed to enhance the professional capacity of Marine Science and Aquatic Practices educators across Australia.  Specifically, the aims are to demonstrate the latest scientific research, management and field based techniques and present information aligned to the new QCAA Marine Science syllabus (Year 11) and the redeveloped Aquatic Practices syllabus.

The conference registration will include the following workshops, lectures and activities:

  • Embedding Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island perspective into the syllabuses
  • Welcome Sunset Cruise on glass bottom boat (light snacks & refreshments)
  • Perspectives on Marine Conservation & Sustainability in Australia
  • QCAA – Marine Science and Aquatic Practices Syllabus Implementation Workshops
  • QCAA – Marine Science and Aquatic Practices Assessment Workshops
  • Griffith University Coast Ed Team – various presentations on Coastal processes and the importance of coastlines
  • University of Queensland – various presentations on Marine Ecology and Biodiversity and Oceanography
  • Healthy Land and Water – presentations on water quality data collection and Citizen Science
  • New resource development presentations – Marine Science
  • Resource development workshops – collaborative sessions for both syllabuses
  • Citizen Science projects
  • Dolphin Feeding Experience – Tuesday evening *(Full or Two-day Registration only)
  • Conference Dinner – Beachside Grill Buffet style *(Full Registration only)
  • Sharing of current resources and discussion on creation of resources to meet new syllabuses
  • Networking with other Marine Science & Aquatics Practices teachers and educators interested in marine education
  • All morning & afternoon teas and lunches
  • Conference promotional bag and Conference Shirt

NOTE:

  • All breakfasts, as well as, dinner on Monday and Tuesday evening are not provided.
  • Some accommodation options have kitchenettes or small kitchens.  There are also several restaurant choices at the resort for both breakfast and dinner.
  • Accommodation and Transfers are not included, however Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort, have arranged for special rates for MTAQ delegates.  These can be accessed via a special link to the Tangalooma website after registration on the MTAQ website.
