The 2024 three day Annual Conference will be held at Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort and is booked for the first weekend of the September school holidays, Saturday 14th – Tuesday 17th September 2024. Book your spot now and add to your PD budget, as an added bonus TRS will not be needed. We will require full registration payment by June 2024 as per Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort booking requirements. Current pricing (TBC) is approx $1500 for members and $1600 for non-members includes return flight ex Hervey Bay, Quad share accommodation, all catering, Snorkeling equipment – mask, snorkel and fins, combined Glass Bottom Boat tour/Snorkel tour, Island Tours (Reef Walking, Fish Feeding etc.), Environmental Management Charge and conference registration. This price is a special education only price and unfortunately cannot be offered to families but LEI have agreed to take family bookings after the conference, so family members can join delegates from 17th September onwards.

Although it is a way off, here are some of the draft outcomes we are hoping to address at our LEI Conference, just in case your school asks for them:

Conference Outcomes for Teachers:

  • educators will have the opportunity to trial methods for IA2 to grow their understanding and allow for implementation in their own schools
  • opportunity to collect a data set for students to utilise during their IA2 in a comparison compact
  • educators will be able to explore the running of the resort
  • educators will develop snorkel skills to build confidence and to explore pedagogy when when instructing students (NOTE: This is not a Snorkel Guide qualification)
  • educators will participate in Island activities relating to reef health, Lead to Reef program and utilising the marine environment
  • educators will be able to collaboratively plan for 2025 Marine Science syllabus implementation and collaboratively review the 2024 Aquatic Practices syllabus implementation
